Our client is a newly startup chemical manufacturer that innovates critical components for industrial batteries, supporting Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems.
The Plant Manager is to manage the industrialisation, ramp up and expansion of a new Manufacturing Plant supplying the Battery EV automotive industry. The Plant manager will initial manage a team of around 12 people which should grow to over 30 and be responsible for all aspects of Manufacturing on the site. He/she will be responsible for the key Operational priorities on the site; Safety First, Quality Always and Customer Focus.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of Operational Excellence
- Identify improvement opportunities within the organisation.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers the operational priorities.
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues, and supervision to maximise operational efficiency.
- Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems.
- Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements.
- Establish and maintain a safe working environment, leading by example to achieve zero incidents.
- Develop a Quality Always culture aiming for zero defects and high process capability through a continuous improvement mindset which is data driven.
- Ensure a strong Customer Focus across the team so the Customer’s needs and requirements are sought, understood, and acted on.
- Manage the production output to meet the plan and delivery timelines.
- Manage the 5S performance on the site.
- Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
- Ensure the operation complies with regulatory requirements and internal company policy and procedures.
- Prepare, manage, and deliver the OpEx and relevant Capex budget for the plant.
- Be an active part of the Operations Management team to share ideas and improve operational excellence.
- Ensure an effective interface with other departments within the company.
- Liaise and communicate with when required with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Min 5 years related experience in People Management & Plant Management, ideally from companies serving the Automotive industry.
- At least Diploma/Degree level qualifications
- Knowledgeable on the Singapore Manufacturing requirements for the various government agencies and approval authorities.
- Quality Management, IATF, Six Sigma, TPM, Manufacturing Excellence or similar training are highly desired.
- Self-motivated and able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
