Responsibilities
- Design new platform solution for power supply & power system products within XP standard design practice, safety guidelines and in timely manner to meet the product spec, modify existing designs, improve existing products for better performance and /or cost.
- Lead project planning to identify critical path(s) and provide direction to mitigate risk.
- To perform tests and experiments as needed to support or confirm the design with written report. For both the new product design and legacy product failure analysis
- Reviews product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company procedures, safety, and other agency requirements
- Perform product verification & validation test such as electrical performance, thermal, EMC and DVT to ensure product meet specification before delivered to internal/external customer.
- Bill of materials (BOM) creation and documentation.
- Breadboard and prototype samples making and debugging.
- Provide technical support to factory on design related issue.
- Provide coaching and guidance to engineers and technicians in evaluation and design.
- There will be some travelling required in conjunction with customer and manufacturing support as well as outside training.
- Provides technical direction to the team.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering.
- More than 10 years’ experience in power supply electronics design.
- In-depth knowledge of key components (magnetic/GaN/SiC) for SMPS circuit and topologies.
- Experience in DC-to-DC high voltage and high-power design.
- Able to analyse and design MIMO system. Can work with/parameterise mixed signal systems with multiple control.
- Detailed knowledge of Flyback, forward, half-bridge, resonant convertors and control loops.
- Detailed knowledge of requirements and tests for current safety standards (EN60950-1, EN62368-1, EN60601-1, and EN61010-1) for IT and medical equipment will be an added advantage.
- Capable of leading long-term structured problem-solving projects
- Good understanding of project management requirement.
- Good understanding of firmware design for power supply requirements.
- Familiarity with PCB design using Altium/PADS will be an added advantage.
- Good communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
