Key Responsibilities:
- Business sourcing and Negotiations
Negotiations and fixing of charter parties. Secure and charter-out vessels under competitive terms and freight cost. Complete vessel clearances and KYCs as and when required.
- Market Analysis and Relationship Building
Liaise and communicate with brokers with regards to freight market views / fixture, cargo lines-up and prospects. Monitor and analyse shipping market trend relating to ship owning, chartering and freight levels. Foster and maintain relationships with clients.
- Contract Management and Risk management
Liaise with operations team and tech managers within the organization to ensure clear instructions and vessels’ operational and economical performance are optimized. Follow up with Operations team from time to time for outstanding accounts/disputes.
- Reporting
Handle and report various aspects of chartering activities. Any ad-hoc duties as and when assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree and/ or Diploma in Maritime Studies or relevant certifications
- 3 - 5 years Shipping and/or tanker chartering experience (tanker experience preferred)
- Results-oriented and performance driven
- Strong network of contacts within the chartering industry, including cargo owners, shipbrokers, and other stakeholders
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to make informed decisions under uncertainty
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and risks effectively
- Comfortable with taking calculated risks to maximize business opportunities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of international maritime regulations and commercial shipping practices
- Fluent in Chinese & English, in listening, conversing, reading and writing
- Strong preference for a Singaporean or PR
