Job Summary:
The successful candidate will join the Sensory Ingestive Behaviour team at the Clinical Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC) (https://www.a-star.edu.sg/cnrc/). The CNRC undertakes research on a wide range of topics, including sensory perception, food intake regulation, body composition, carbohydrate/lipid/protein metabolism and human growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a researcher to contribute to studies that explore food choice and eating behavior within the Sensory and Ingestive Behaviour group. The research officer will:
- Provide practical support in the set up and execution of studies that explore food choice and eating behaviour at key stages in the human lifespan. They will be responsible for coordinating and administering the studies in line with the defined experimental protocol.
- Perform literature searches on relevant topics and contribute to discussions on the research approach and experimental design of research studies.
- Knowledge of food chemistry and safe food handling practices.
- Under supervision, to organize, analyse, and interpret data collected from experiments
- Recruit and schedule research participants.
- Assist with the day to day practical and administrative duties of the CNRC by preparing research protocols, purchasing materials for experiments, managing payments and reimbursements.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor degree in food science, food technology, human nutrition, or fields associated with food production or health. Postgraduate training in Nutrition is desirable.
- A strong interest in scientific research that is focussed on sensory perception, dietary behaviour and human health.
- Computer literacy skills and excellent spoken and written English.
- Well organized, efficient, attentive to detail and an independent self-starter.
- A team player with ability to work on multiple projects and prioritise and plan concurrent activities.
- Strong communication skills in oral and written English.
- Prior research experience with data collection from human subjects and working with children is desirable.
- Experience with experimental set-up and statistical analyses would be desirable.
