Sports trainer at Lion City Sailors Academy
The academy of the Lion City Sailors FC is a household name in Singapore’s professional football. The
academy is highly recognized when it comes to developing professional football players. The
performance department makes an important contribution to this development. This department
consists of a variety of professions: Strength and Conditioning coaches, data analysts, nutritionists,
sport-trainers and physiotherapists.
The medical staff (sport trainers and physiotherapists) ensure that every day around 150 players
receive medical support. We are responsible for diagnosing injured players, performing the gym- and
on-field rehabilitation and support with first aid during games and training.
We have room for one sports trainer, who has an affinity with (professional) football. Since soccer
players (and coaches) are quite direct, you must be able to handle this type of contact. We are looking
for someone who does not have an 8 to 5 mentality. We also find it important that you are a person who
takes initiative. Good communication skills, wanting to improve every day and getting everything out of
yourself and your surroundings are important elements within our staff.
We offer the possibility to become part of our organisation whereby you will be giving medical support
during both training and matches of our academy teams. We will provide you the opportunity to learn
and develop yourself in the sport-medicine through internal courses, personal guiding and practical
experience.
The core duties will be:
● Supervising matches and training as sports-trainer
● Providing first aid to injured players
● Support players with taping, massage and pre-activation programs
● Assist in rehabilitation of injured players
● Communicating with the medical coordinator, coaches and parents
● Doing back office work (stock order/count - insurance claims - etc)
The ideal candidate:
● Possesses excellent communication skills
● Has experience working in football
● Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy
● Has a first-aid and taping diploma
● Has affinity with football
● Wants to maximise her/his own development
● Is willing to work in the weekends
We offer:
● The possibility to start a career in professional football
● The possibility to learn from experienced (sports)physiotherapists who worked at various
European professional football clubs
● The possibility to work in a young, ambitious and motivated team
● A part- or full time contract
● The experience to go abroad with team trips (both Europe as Asia)
