Visiting Professor (Alice Lee School of Nursing Studies)

The Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies (ALCNS) is a department under the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The ALCNS has established collaborative activities with the Oslo Metropolitan University (Oslomet). Having a Visiting Professor from Oslomet will ensure the networking connections and research collaborations with NUS Nursing continue to grow and flourish in the future. The appointment will also further strengthen the existing collaborative activities, such as research in digital health, between NUS Nursing and Oslomet.

The visiting professor needs to be capable of ensuring networking connections between Singapore and Nordic countries among universities, hospitals and companies. The visiting professor needs to have capabilities to understand the patient needs through qualitative research, to co-create evidence-based digital solutions and validate the digital solutions involving actors from hospitals, companies and research organizations from Nordic countries and Singapore. In order to do that, the professor needs to have extensive experience of obtaining external funding and project preparation, good skills to lead large research programs. The professor needs to have also existing interdisciplinary networks in Singapore and Nordic countries. The visiting professor needs also to have capabilities to deliver lectures, plan teaching programs and supervise PhD students in the area of digital health.

The candidate is expected to:
(a) Involve people from different disciplines into existing collaborative projects;
(b) advise faculty/PhD students on their research area and co-supervise PhD students;
(c) continue to publish research findings with our faculty members;
(d) deliver lectures and present research methodological areas such as qualitative and mixed methodologies;
(e) Jointly plan for competitive research grants to examine the innovative digital health programs that are not yet seen in Singapore;
(f) discuss potential areas of research collaboration with faculty; and
(g) serve as a link for international collaboration in research and education

Qualifications

  • The applicant should have a doctoral degree and expertise in education research in nursing, health science or computer science
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and existing interdisciplinary networks from Singapore and Nordic countries, including hospitals, research organizations and companies
  • Ability to understand the patient needs through qualitative research, to co-create evidence- based digital solutions and validate the digital solutions involving players from hospitals, companies and research organizations from Nordic countries and Singapore
  • Track record of publishing in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals
  • Experiences in obtaining large research grants
  • Experienced in independently leading research studies of a component within larger research programme
  • Prior Professor appointment in Nordic University/ Universities
  • Track record of leadership position in academic/research-intensive environment with at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Independent with strong emphasis on teamwork
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, is meticulous, organised, proactive and has an investigative nature
