This advertisement is for recruiting for the positions of Food Lab Support Officer.
If successfully selected, you will be seconded to a MOE Secondary School located in Marsiling Road.
Contract Period: From 2 Jan 2024 to 31 Dec 2024.
Option to Extend: for a further period of 2 years (02 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2026)
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours for :
- Mondays to Thursdays: 7:00am to 4:00pm, inclusive of ½ hr lunch break
- Fridays: 7:00am to 3:30pm, inclusive of ½ hr lunch break
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
The Services required are set out as follows:
Preparing of teaching resources for practical lessons and examinations. Duties include:
- Receiving groceries from the supplier and to check the quality and quantity delivered.
- Sorting out the ingredients according to recipes. (Bowls and plates used for sorting of ingredients to be taken from teacher’s cabinet (E))
- Labeling and packing ingredients in containers for the respective classes.
- Packing all ingredients at least one day in advance.
- Maintaining of teaching resources in Food Lab 1, Food Lab 2, Prep and Store Room. Duties include:
- Checking the expiry dates of food products.
- Preparing food before the practical lesson begins. For example, boiling of potatoes in advance to save time.
- Cleaning the refrigerator once a week.
- Clear unwanted packaging or boxes.
- Wiping all stools, windows and doors once a week.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of all cabinets and drawers in the food laboratories and preparatory room at all times.
- Doing spring cleaning of the food laboratories and preparatory room on a termly basis with the supervision of the teacher in-charge.
- Updating the notice boards using the given materials.
- Checking the first aid kit once a week.
- Stock taking of teaching resources in Food Lab 1, Food Lab 2, Prep/Store Room. Duties include:
- Stock taking of food products once a week.
- Stock taking of food laboratories 1 & 2 and preparatory room at the end of the year.
- Assisting the teachers when required. Duties may include:
- Accompanying students for field trips and checking delivery dates of goods and services.
- Record details in the log books (loaning and accidents books), when necessary.
- Assist teachers in preparation for and during lessons - help replenish items, assist students with cookers/ovens/grill/blenders/steamers, mop spills, etc.
- Ordering of ingredients. Fax food orders (if any) before 2pm and call the grocery vendor to confirm receipt of order. Leave the faxed order on the teacher's table in the kitchen.
- Video recording of cooking sessions and taking photographs when required for teaching and learning purpose.
- Preparing teaching materials.
- Washing of table clothes and towels after practical examinations.
Performing the following daily routines in the food labs during Term Time:
- Check In-tray for additional instructions for the day and put in Out-tray when completed.
- Opening of main doors and all windows at the beginning of every lesson and to close them immediately after the last lesson of the day.
- Sweeping the floor at the end of the day.
- Wiping the teacher’s table and the end of the day.
- Wiping all the tables before and after each practical lesson.
- Placing all 10 knife trays at the respective work stations at the beginning of the day and to return them to the respective cabinet at the end of the day. After lessons, check number of knives are in order. To inform NFS teachers if knives are not accounted for before students are dismissed.
- Placing the ingredients on the demonstration table ten minutes before every practical lesson.
- After lessons, check all cookers are switched off, sinks are clean, cookers and microwave ovens are clean and rubbish is disposed.
- Clear the centre store table.
- Washing and drying all used linen every day.
- Cleaning the cookers, wiping the workstations, sweeping and mopping the floor at the end of every practical day.
- Refill up the soap containers, check the cutlery and equipment are in place for each unit.
The personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- At least 3 years similar working experience as food labs assistant.
- Preferably to have worked in a similar work environment.
