Purpose

Business Project Manager for the Asia-Pacific region to be a leading pioneer in the dynamic offshore wind industry. Reporting directly to the Vice President Asia-Pacific, this pivotal role is instrumental in bridging the gap between the thriving markets in Asia-Pacific, including Country Managers and their teams/partners, and the central Commercial/Market Development teams situated in Europe, with a distinct emphasis on advancing offshore wind endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Initiatives in Offshore Wind: Champion the identification and pursuit of innovative business opportunities within offshore wind markets and projects. Coordinate comprehensive assessments and rationales, engaging the Market Development team (including Government Affairs & Regulatory), Commercial, Technical, HR, Legal, and Finance/Tax teams. Lead the development of recommendations, and upon approval, orchestrate their seamless execution.
  • Management of Offshore Wind Projects: Under the guidance of the Vice President Asia-Pacific, play a pivotal role in steering various markets or business opportunities/projects in offshore wind development. Lead the delivery of regional commercial and market development workstreams, collaborating closely with central functions. This includes overseeing aspects such as Government & Regulatory Affairs, Communications/PR, Environmental and consents, Global stakeholder engagement, as well as M&A and Partnerships, Valuation/Business Case, Procurement, Revenues, and Project Financing on the Commercial side.
  • Project Development Strategy in Offshore Wind: Manage the definition of project development strategies, working closely with the Vice President Asia-Pacific, Commercial & Market Development teams, the assigned Technical Project Manager (TPM), and the Country Manager. Assist in the implementation of project development strategies, including the procurement/RfPs (Request for Proposal) of relevant service providers, in collaboration with central functions in Europe.
  • Technical Workstream Management in Offshore Wind: Collaborate closely with the assigned Technical Project Manager (TPM) to ensure the on-budget delivery of technical workstreams in offshore wind projects. Participate in the site selection process, liaise with subject matter experts, and contribute to the evaluation and communication with grid transmission companies, suppliers, consultants, and other contractors.
  • Tender Delivery in Offshore Wind: Play a critical role in the delivery of tenders, such as seabed auctions and offtake, working within a dedicated tender team under the leadership of the Country Manager, who is ultimately responsible for the final delivery of such tenders.
  • Reporting and Budgeting Leadership: Manage and be accountable for reporting and budgeting under the leadership of the Country Manager. Project manage the annual budgeting of markets, quarterly re-forecast, and quarterly capital calls, communicating regularly with the senior management team/board through various means to ensure smooth decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate extensively with internal colleagues on all matters described above. Develop and maintain networks of high-level stakeholders/decision-makers, potential development partners, suppliers, other authorities (such as ports, grid), and consultants.
  • Public Representation: Act as a representative of the company in the public forum, including conferences, workshops, government requests for information, etc.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Masters-level qualifications in engineering or management.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of demonstrable experience in project and commercial management of large-scale offshore wind infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player with high integrity, capable of collaborating effectively across cultures with the central team in Europe.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to establish relationships at the most senior level, including government representatives.
  • Initiative: Proactive with the ability to take initiatives, own projects, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Agility: High level of agility, willingness to develop new skills, and adapt to multiple parallel activities.
  • Problem-Solving: Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a demanding offshore wind environment.
  • Travel: Regional travels throughout the APAC region for offshore wind project development, and international travels to meet with the central team in Europe as required.
