Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, you shall be responsible to:
- Assist in the pricing of product premiums and draft/review policy wordings/schedule for product development/revamp for all consumer lines of business, which includes but not limited to Motor, Home, Travel, Critical Illness, Personal Accident, Maid, Mobile Phone, etc
- Provide underwriting advisories to all internal stakeholders
- Review and edit all marketing and distribution materials for products
- Engage with reinsurers or reinsurers broker on product development not within treaty terms
- Underwrite and maintain a profitable book of business in accordance to the company’s risk appetite while adhering to underwriting guidelines and delegated authority.
- Keep abreast of market trends and developments and provide analysis and recommendations to the portfolio
- Manage referrals from the call centre, customers and intermediaries.
- Prepare and conduct product training
- Review, evaluate, and recommend modifications to underwriting guidelines and workflows to ensure underwriting standards
- Ensure consistent compliance with legal, regulatory and company standards in line with underwriter requirements
- Participate in the monitoring the underwriting performance of the company’s portfolios and assist in the preparation of management reports
- Assist with system enhancement and conduct user acceptance testing
- Perform any other assigned duties from time to time
Job Requirements:
- A recognized Diploma or Degree in any relateddiscipline, with professional qualifications in General Insurance
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on underwriting experience in consumer lines, including Motor, Travel, PA, Home and others, is a must.
- Strong analytical skills and decision making, with attention to details
- Independent and a fast leaner, able to grasp processes and system quickly
- Excellent presentation, communication, interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills
- Able to work within deadlines and under pressure
