The Program Leader will:
· Oversee multiple technology development and production projects in the field of directed energy;
· Optimise, for enhanced company efficiency and profitability, the degree of complementarity among projects;
· Manage customer relations at the COO/CTO level, or higher as required;
· Set the technical direction for each project and arbitrate project decisions relating to technical trade-offs to achieve faster-better-cheaper outcomes;
· Have control over the budget and expenditure plans for each development project;
· Clarify and communicate the program strategy and objectives;
· Align the scope, objectives and scale of specific development projects with overall program goals, and for aligning the overall program with company goals.
Job responsibilities:
· As Program Leader, provide technical and business leadership to a large multi-disciplinary team engaged in fixed-price development efforts.
· Lead a major development effort through a program management team comprising senior Program Manager, Senior Engineer and Senior Scientist.
· Contribute to the process of achieving technical, schedule and cost trade-offs in the development process.
· Coordinate program reporting to the customer and to company leadership.
· Provide and communicate overall vision and direction for program.
· Drive the strategic roadmap both for product features, technology and overall business development.
· Assist in the management and supervision of program staff.
· Seek opportunities to make improvements to team efficiency and process.
· Provide guidance and a role model for all team members.
· Provide mentoring for senior project members.
Qualifications:
· Doctoral Degree in physics or engineering with at least 20 years of practical experience in a technology discipline;
· At least 20 years of experience successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams to achieve defence or aerospace technology outcomes that include globally-recognised advances in the known state-of-the-art;
· Proven systems integration skills to ensure coherent outcomes from combining research efforts from multi-disciplinary efforts including at least software, engineering and physics teams;
· Proven leadership and problem-solving skills demonstrated at a high level across multiple programs for US or NATO military organisations or equivalent;
· Demonstrated familiarity with modern techniques for intellectual property protection, including authorship of international patents in defence technology;
· Proven record of performance in CRM (customer relationship management) to maintain alignment of program goals with customer objectives and priorities; and
Recognised status as an industry leader to attract new leadership talent and to provide mentoring for program succession.
