About this Role:
- The role involves developing and maintaining the company's network infrastructure to ensure networks are running smoothly and securely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement both the physical and wireless networks of an organization, including LANs, WANs, network segments, and internet and intranet systems.
- Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, troubleshooting network problems, and escalating problems to vendor.
- Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access.
- Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
- Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
- Configure routing and switching equipment.
- Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users during installation.
- Provide remote troubleshooting and fault-finding if issues occur upon initial installation.
- Liaise with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 - 10 years of proven experience in a network engineer role.
- Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching.
- Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
- Experience with firewalls, internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
- Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE training.
- Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP) is a plus.
