JOB DESCRIPTION
As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns based on understanding of journalists' interests; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns; and counter misinformation that might interfere with our business and ability to serve our users. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.
As a leader, you will keep your team on track with the overall strategy, giving them direction when it comes to specific product and business area decisions. You will also provide direct communications support for senior executives.
ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Head of YouTube Communications APAC, you will be a confident senior leader and communicator who can build consensus in regions across both Google APAC and YouTube APAC leadership. You will work with your team and senior cross-functional leadership to help craft and execute overall communication strategies in line with YouTube’s business objectives in APAC. You will also create close connections to the YouTube San Bruno leadership team to drive awareness of issues and opportunities in APAC. You will have proven leadership skills, managing a fast-moving team along with deep and relevant industry expertise, strong reporter relationships, excellent written and communication skills, and an ability to learn fast and move faster in an ever-changing environment. Excellent manager and leadership skills are critical to succeeding and with a high-functioning team.
Qualifications
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee product and policy communications, including issues around misinformation, recommendations, controversial content, privacy and security.
- Oversee consumer and entertainment communications, including product launches and Music communications in APAC.
- Work closely with the central YouTube APAC Communications team and others to devise smart PR strategies to drive YouTube’s product, policy and entertainment business objectives.
- Work closely with YouTube Product, Engineering, business and Marketing teams to identify and support key launches, partnerships, creators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 14 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
- 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience influencing, both internally and externally, through relationships, expertise and large group presentations.
- Established press contacts with consumer and trade journalists who cover TV and film properties.
- Technology, policy and entertainment communications experience.
- Ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working on multiple high profile campaigns.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and quickly identify trending topics and challenges.
