Transaction Services (Deal Strategy), Senior Manager

Our Deal Advisory professionals help buyers, sellers, private equity investors, governments, and lenders in developing and executing on their value strategies. The Transaction Services team focuses on due diligence (financial and commercial) deal strategy assistance in relation to acquisitions, disposals, public bids/mergers, joint ventures, buy-outs, market entries, financing and other transactions as well as market entry and expansion initiatives. The team also helps clients identify upside opportunities and risks in their transaction processes to satisfy the due diligence requirements of underwriting banks.


You are a motivated self-starter with expertise in finance, strategy, research and business operations, with focus on deal strategy and commercial due diligence in a deal environment and taking on business development activities with the following key focus areas:

  • Deal Market entry/growth strategy
  • Commercial Due Diligence
  • Deal Strategy and Target Identification

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the lead engagement manager in Singapore and SEA, to grow the service line via supporting the internal firm network as well as external go-to-market strategy
  • Involve in business development activities including pitching, sourcing for business opportunities with key focus areas in deal market entry/growth strategy, value creation, commercial due diligence, deal strategy and target identification
  • Prepare and draft detailed professional reports and assist in preparing pitch documents e.g. proposals and presentations
  • Lead teams to evaluate markets, assess market size, growth, segmentation and overall attractiveness, customer interviewing, and assess strengths and weaknesses of market participants with an ability to provide strategic insights – beyond the research
  • Lead the team and execute financial analysis, review on target projects and formulate deal rationale and strategy
  • Lead day-to-day client or target interactions during the deal and overall project management of projects
  • Work with pre-deal, deal and post-deal teams – Being a key contact point with the Director/Partner for the full deal strategy ‘product’ - market entry, target scans, CDD, value creation, synergy assessment and post-merger integration/separation projects
  • Assist clients with building detailed business models including market forecasts, competitor share forecasts, evaluating synergy, value creation and cost saving opportunities, and product/service improvements
  • Apply standard Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and value creation techniques and methods in analysis
  • Identify and accelerate leadership development in team members by establishing appropriate plans and frameworks with particular emphasis on coaching and skills transfer and sector knowledge

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background with financial, commercial or strategy qualifications such as an MBA, ACCA or similar
  • Has at least 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in global accounting or strategy firms or tier 1 in-house role, with detailed knowledge and understanding of M&A, diligence strategy processes
  • Possess prior experience in Financial Services (banking, wealth management, insurance), Fintech, Transportation, Energy, Consumer & Retail or ICT are preferred
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to interpret data, generate insights and construct solutions
  • Proven experience of working successfully with top management teams at clients
  • Ability to perform consistently under pressure, lead and operate in high performing and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge in data analytics/tools are added advantage
  • Enthusiasm to work as part of a team based across multiple geographies to meet challenging client deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in spoken and written English; added language proficiency in Japanese is a plus in order to liaise with Japanese Clients
  • Willingness to travel
