A construction site manager is responsible for managing and overseeing a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects.

The construction site manager job description entails monitoring and directing the activities of contractors and subcontractors from the beginning of a construction project until its completion.

He/she utilizes his/her professional levels of organization and attention to detail to ensure that contractors complete their works efficiently and effectively in strict compliance with time and budget expectations.

In other words, a construction site manager refers to one whose profession is to oversee and/or manage building projects, and he or she is responsible for handling budgets, hiring, contracts, schedules, safety compliance, and interfacing collaboratively with other professionals who are connected to the project.

In the process of discharging his or her duties of overseeing a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects, a construction site manager is expected to complete some core tasks, which may vary by employer, in his or her daily activities.

One of the core duties that must be executed by a construction site manager is to oversee and direct the activities of a range of contractors and subcontractors which may begin with site preparation and foundation work to the final stages of the particular construction project.

A construction site manager may also be required to provide inputs and/or suggestions on the selection and hiring of contractors, ensuring that he or she visits construction sites frequently to oversee that work is progressing smoothly.

He/she also work as a liaison between contractors and clients.

Construction managers are also saddled with the responsibility of managing timelines, which involves setting contractor schedules and delivery dates for specific elements of ongoing construction projects by determining the order/sequence in which contractors work on a series of project, ensuring that necessary and relevant materials are available, and ensuring all forms of delay by contractors due to conflicting project elements are prevented.
