The Community You Will Join:
The Associate Principal, Intercompany and Insurance Accounting is a member of the Global Consolidations and Treasury Accounting Team within the Controllership organization in Airbnb Finance. This role is a key member of the Consolidations and Treasury Accounting Centers of Excellence (COEs), and is responsible for all AirCover insurance accounting functions and the Intercompany Global Funding process, end-to-end. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Global Consolidations and Treasury Accounting, and has dotted-line reporting to the COE leads for Consolidations (based in San Francisco) and Treasury Accounting (based in Korea).
The Difference You Will Make:
This role will partner closely with cross-functional leads in Treasury Operations, Insurance Solutions, GL Accounting, and Statutory Reporting, most of whom are based in EMEA and APAC regions, in order to perform their work and to lead or participate in projects, and to serve as an overall subject matter expert on AirCover and Intercompany Global Funding across the wider Finance organization. This role will also oversee the work of the Treasury Accountant based in Airbnb Capability Center in India as an indirect report.
A Typical Day:
- Own the AirCover accounting process. Prepare and/or review complex U.S. GAAP journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis related to:
- platform insurance products (i.e. Host Protection products),
- Airbnb’s captive insurance company, and
- Guest Travel Insurance (insurance agent entities).
- Own the Intercompany Global Funding process:
- Maintain the Global Funding and Cash Movement files,
- Oversee cost-plus invoices and coordinate settlements with Global Funding stakeholders and cross-functional partners,
- Record intercompany settlements (payments, receipts, accruals, etc.),
- Oversee the Cash Pool activities (reconciliations, interest accruals, and statements), and
- Prepare weekly cash redenominations.
- Ensure that the related SOX control processes have been designed properly, are documented, and are executed accordingly.
- Provide timely and accurate data and reports to internal and external auditors, financial reporting groups, and assist with resolving issues if they should arise.
- Collaborate with our business partners cross-functionally, leveraging subject matter expertise in completing special projects and ad-hoc reporting.

Your Expertise:
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or Chartered Accountant
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with building large, complex workflows in Alteryx
- Experience with Workday and Oracle ERPs
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and complex formulas (i.e macros, INDEX, MATCH, OFFSET)
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, organization, and critical thinking skills
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently and drive results
- Team player with the ability to work cross-functionally and willingness to take on challenges
Preferred Experience
- Experience with SQL or other database query languages
- Experience with foreign currency accounting
- Public Accounting experience
