Overview
A role is being created within our Singapore Investment Operations department. This is a position for someone who is wanting to build on their financial services career within a dynamic department that is investing in infrastructure in order to support our front office and wider business while operating at scale. This role is suited to those that have years of supervisory experience or may currently be an Operations manager at another asset manager / fund. Prior Fund Accounting experience at a Third Party Administrator would also be desireable.
This person will have the opportunity to work across the department over time and will be expected to assist where required during pressure points. The Operations department is a supportive, creative and collaborative team. Training will be provided alongside support for industry qualifications up to CFA level where appropriate.
Redwheel offer hybrid working and flexibility however the successful candidate will be in the office at least 3 days per week with Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday as core company days.
Investment Operations Department Roles and Responsibilities
The Investment Operations team is currenlty made up of two sub units across London and Singapore. The successful candidate will initially be placed within Fund Operations:
- Fund Operations (currently London) aligns members of the team to certain investment teams or strategies. These individuals become SMEs in the remaining operational workings of the respective funds, after which cross-training occurs. Their roles include, but are not limited to, cash management, fee tracking, budgeting, return estimates, tax oversight, income distribution review, flow verification/instruction and NAV sign-off (Daily & Monthly funds)
- Trade Operations (London & Singapore) are responsible for trade processing, matching and settlement, security setup and corporate action management. Market opening and ongoing market maintenance also sits within this area. As a result of the above, this unit interacts closely with the Central Dealing Desk
- Redwheel utilise third party reconciliation software with both units investigating remaining breaks across cash, transactions and positions
- Both units work collaboratively on investment team take-ons, fund launches, IPOs and fund closures
- Both units participate in business transformation and system improvement/upgrade projects
Key Responsibilities:
- Initially responsible for the oversight and management of the day to day functions of the Singapore Ops unit potentially progressing to cover the entire department
- NAV sign off – strong technicial knowledge of fund accounting to the extent the candidate will be responsible for approving Monthly & Daily funds with AUM of multiple billion dollars. Fund products include Cayman master feeder, Lux UCITS, UK OIECs, US 40ct and various managed mandates.
- Performance fee review and sign off
- Stakeholder management, internal and external relationshipes including but not limited to Admins, Custodians, Tax agents, Recon providers, Investment Managers and various internal departments
- Cash flow management, calls and distributions at both funds/mandates and investment level
- Monitor system workflows and exceptions
- Co-ordinate and participate in business transformation and system improvement projects
- Assist with fund/mandate launch and onboardings
- Integral in managing the transition of funds to any new TPA
- Facilitate periodic updates of operating procedures, help ensure all processes and controls are documented
- Help develop MIS reporting
- Manage escalated issues from internal and external relationships
- Participate in investor onsite due diligence meetings when required
- Participate/become member of internal committees
- Represent Redwheel Ops in fund board of director calls as required
- Surface ineffiencies and potential risks
- May serve as lead in the absence of the Head of Investment Operations
Candidate Background:
- Degree educated in Finance related course.
- IOC qualification desirable. IOC being undertaken is acceptable (must complete and pass)
- At least 10years industry experience
- Excellent understanding of end-to-end Fund Accounting across various fund structures including, but not limited to: Luxembourg UCITS, Irish ICAVs, Caymen Master-Feeder structures, UK OIECs, US Mutual Funds (40Act), ETFs and UK Investment Trusts
- Able to understand and explain different incentive fee methodologies
- Tax knowledge across market and type
- Product experience across Equities (essential), Convertible Bonds (essential), Corporate Bonds, Derivatives (F&O and Swaps) and FX
- Expense Administration knowledge (TER calcualtion).
