Position : Financial Controller (Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia)
Role Purpose:
The Financial Controller is responsible for providing effective and efficient financial and business administration processes, analysis, and governance to ensure a high level of integrity is maintained in the Financial Statements and business processes.
The position is responsible for the development, maintenance, control, and improvement of the accounting systems & processes. Critical to this is ensuring financial reporting is in line with Molycop Accounting Policies and Guidelines and complies with Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia regulation. From a governance perspective the role ensures that all audits are free of compliance issues and Molycop Key Financial Controls are in place and working effectively. Furthermore, the position will ensure that the business systems are robust, reliable and maintained to the Molycop standards.
This position will provide support to the VP Global Trading & SE Asia, by providing financial analysis on the KPIs of the business and ensure all financial and business administration matters are managed effectively. This includes delivering monthly financial results and annual financial statements, ensuring tax compliance, preparing tax returns and supporting the tax audit process, preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans, banking, and effective balance sheet management, and coordinating management of IT systems.
Role Accountabilities:
1. Collaboration and Team Management:
- Collaborate closely with department heads and senior executives to understand their financial needs and challenges.
- Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to business units
- Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Ensure the team's objectives align with department and organizational goals.
2. Accounting and FP&A:
- Oversee accounting and finance functions in Singapore, Indonesia, and Hong Kong
- Oversee monthly closing, ensuring financial statements are true and fair and in accordance with local IFRS
- Oversee financial analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Provide advanced financial modeling and analysis to support strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and present management reports and insights to department heads, senior management, and the executive team
3. Audit and Statutory Filing:
- Manage annual audit process for Singapore and Hong Kong
- Manage annual statutory filing process for Singapore and Hong Kong, including XBRL filing, Annual Return filing, SG ESG tax incentive reporting
4. Tax:
- Liaise with external advisors for preparation of annual transfer pricing review
- Liaise with External Consultant in filing CITR and any other tax filings
- Ensure business transactions are executed in compliance with company standards and local tax regulations.
5. Treasury:
- Management Banking Relationships and apply for new trade Finance Facility
o Understand Letter of Credit requirements
o Understand Bank KYC requirements
- Review cash forecast and collaborate with corporate to maximize cash utilization.
- Review weekly payments
6. Compliance
- Responsible for the integrity of the business administration, including
o Oversea the Delegation of Authority definition and enforcement
o Coordinate with external auditors on internal control reviews
Requirements
· University degree in Accountancy or Finance coupled with either CA or CPA qualification.
· At least 15 years of related experience in financial analysis, reporting, controlling, financial management, accounting, and auditing, with proven track record in leadership role.
· Relevant working experience in the trading or commodity-based enterprise.
· Prior experience as auditor in big 4 is a plus.
· Industry knowledge – specific experience with / understanding of key drivers, economics, and management practices of steel industry.
· Knowledge of Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia accounting law is a must.
· Proficiency in financial and accounting software and system – SAP and/or Microsoft Dynamics
· Strong Microsoft Office skills – excel, word, PowerPoint.
· Excellent analytical skill to formulate financial strategies.
· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities across diverse audiences.
· Self-started and motivated to challenge status quo.
· Ability to prioritise, work under time pressure.
