Job Description
To ensure that horses are healthy and in good condition by looking after their every needs. The routine work of a groom includes giving horses food and water, replacing bedding, mucking stables, cleaning and clipping horses’ coats, treating minor wounds and managing their vet care needs.
Organising and handling of daily stable matters relating to vet care ensuring horse and facilities are kept in condition.
Job Duties
Preparing and giving food to our horse as per feed instructions, ensuring that water is available at all times.
Mucking out of their stalls to ensure a dry and optimal living condition for horses.
Managing horse and vet care as per instructed by Chief Instructor and or Vet prescribed care routine. Horse care includes sufficient grooming, cleaning, clipping and other necessary care duties.
To prepare the horses for lessons, tacking, untacking, groom and hosing down after lesson or exercise.
Care and management of all Riding equipment, including bridle, saddles and saddle pads.
Hand walking and turnout of horses.
Ensure that paddocks and yard areas are free from poisonous weeds or plants to horse
Assist Vet or Farrier when necessary and carrying out any prescribed treatments.
Assistance with competition preparation and if necessary to travel with horses to offsite competitions.
Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance works to yard and facilities.
Monitoring and updating feed and hay stocks, initiate requisition of such shortfall.
To be able to notice or be aware of unusual signs or behaviour in order to initiate call for help in the event of a veterinary emergency, like calling the Stable supervisor or Riding Instructor.
Attend meetings when required.
To comply with Riding School’s Policies and safety guidelines.
Any other reasonable duties as requested.
Skills & Requirement
Preferably BHS Basic level horse care training or any other relevant equine care certification.
Minimum 5 years of experience in this field.
Able to communicate and write in English
Able To Work Independently
