Social, Emotional and Behaviour Counsellor

II. JOB PURPOSE

  • The role holder is responsible –

1) For providing support to students with educational challenges.

2) For providing consultation and guidance to students with social, emotional and behavioural challenges

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional

Subject Knowledge and Methodological Competence

· Provides information and/or direction to students, parents, teachers, and administrators about behavioural, social, emotional support services available to eligible students.

· Advises and provides individualized support to students with educational, emotional, physical and behavioural challenges

· Delivers presentations and workshops for parents and students to support the well-being of students.

· Recommends further resources to parents where appropriate

· Maintains consultation records and documentations

· Develops and implements a well-being programme covering all aspects of senior students.

· Guides students on personal statements, essays, online applications & interviews.

· Attends international conferences & events on behavioural guidance as appropriate.

· Networks with external officers/Clinical psychologists if required.

· Facilitates meeting with students.

· Maintains confidentiality of student’s details.

· Collates and prepares reports on data pertaining to all aspects of student well -being.

· Sends monthly newsletters to parents and updates them with monthly well being activities. Compiles well-being articles for GIIS blog.

· Informs students about potential shortcomings in their skill sets and devising strategies to remedy these.

Organizational Competence:

· Conducts classes assigned based on subject expertise

· Attends to proxies and invigilation duties.

· Attends events and activities conducted in school

· Carries out any other duties assigned

Reflection and Development:

· Reflects regularly on the development of personal and professional capabilities.

· Develops an understanding of the relationships between scientific disciplines and their influence on other areas of knowledge.

Interaction

Focussed on effective teamwork and collaboration

· Collaborates with teachers to share new ideas, content and professional knowledge.

· Works closely with the relevant stakeholders and evaluate student performance data to identify students who may require additional support

Interpersonal Competence:

· Creates an atmosphere of trust by dealing with students in a positive and open way.

· Ensures open communication channel and coordination with all teachers.

· Maintains constant communication with parents, teachers and the campus administration to provide personal support as part of the counselling planning process and to update the student’s progress

IV. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

· Graduate degree in the desired Subject with International Teaching.

· Preferred Masters in the desired Subject with International Teaching.

· Certificate of accreditation preferred.

· Computer literacy, is required to work on software.

· Fluent English Level: reading, writing, speaking; a professional command of the English language.

· Good technology application skills.

· 3-5 years of experience
