Butchery Responsibilities:
- Assist senior butchers in meat preparation, cutting, trimming, and packaging following established guidelines and standards.
- Learn and develop knife skills to handle various cuts of meat efficiently and safely.
- Gain knowledge about different cuts of meat and their best uses for cooking.
- Adhere to food safety protocols and hygiene standards in all butchery tasks.
Retail Sales Responsibilities:
- Providing excellent customer service, addressing customer inquiries, and offering guidance on meat selection and cooking recommendations
- Ensuring appealing presentation of meat products, organizing displays, and managing stock levels.
- Handling transactions at the retail counter, processing payments, and providing receipts and change.
- Assisting with general retail tasks, including restocking shelves, organizing displays, and addressing customer queries outside the meat department.
- Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in the meat cutting area and the retail section, adhering to food safety standards.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic meat cutting techniques and understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide excellent service and address customer needs effectively.
- Ability to maintain product quality, cleanliness, and accuracy in packaging.
- Basic math skills for weighing meat and processing transactions.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting and carrying items as required
- Willingness to collaborate with other team members and assist in various retail tasks.
- Availability to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required in the retail industry.
