Responsibilities:
1. Category Management
· Develop and implement category strategies to achieve business objectives and goals.
· Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats within the category.
· Monitor and manage the performance of products or services within the category.
2. Market Analysis
· Continuously monitor and analyse market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities and threats within the category.
3. Supplier Relationship Management
· Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms and agreements to ensure reliable and cost-effective sourcing.
4. Purchase Order Management:
· Creating and managing purchase orders to initiate the procurement process and track the delivery of goods and services.
5. Product Selection and Assortment Planning
· Curate a product assortment within the category, considering factors like product quality, pricing, and consumer demand.
6. Inventory Management
· Optimize inventory levels to balance supply and demand while minimizing carrying costs.
· Manage inventory levels to ensure that products are in stock when needed, while minimizing overstock and obsolescence.
7. Product Life Cycle Management
· Manage the life cycle of products within the category, including product introduction, growth, maturity, and discontinuation.
8. Compliance and Regulatory Matters
· Ensure that all products within the category comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
9. Vendor Evaluation and Selection:
· Identify potential vendors and evaluate their performance to determine the best suppliers for the category.
10. Cross-functional Collaboration
· Work closely with various departments, such as marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance, to achieve category goals and objectives.
11. Risk Management
· Identify and mitigate potential risks that may affect the category's performance, including supply chain disruptions and market fluctuations.
12. Customer Focus
· Understand customer needs, preferences, and feedback to adapt the category strategy and offerings accordingly.
Requirements:
- Degree qualification in related field or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of supply management experience in the food industry, strategic and operational experience especially international buying.
- Excellent communication skills in liaising with suppliers/principals.
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices.
- Industry knowledge in terms of broad industry dynamics on the buy-side (and the sell side), but also the internal knowledge and "language of the business".
- Proficient in MS Office Applications and Microsoft Navision is added advantage.
