Job Description
Our client, a newly set up inventory management solutions provider, is looking to hire a General Manager to join their pioneering team. This role will be report to the Managing Director and serves as a crucial role in supporting the MD in company operations and sales.
You will be also in charge of all of the operations on the ground, ensuring the quality of service delivery, overseeing staff recruitment and leading a few members in time to come. Key skills to thrive in this position include decision-making, negotiation and operation management, as well as Japanese language ability to liaise with Japanese speaking stakeholders and customers.
Operations:
- Forecasting and managing budgets, expenses and costs for ground operation
- Scheduling of service implementation dates and times with reference to customer requests
- Manpower planning and instructing staff on specific roles and duties
- Regular on-site visits and improvement processes to inspect service levels and improve quality
- Planning, educating and holding upskilling training for ground staff
- Conducting various necessary meetings
- Negotiating appropriately with customers to facilitate on-site operations
- Monitoring and supervising ground operations and various statistical figures
- Overseeing recruitment of ground staff (e.g. recruitment, interviewing, training)
- Communicating with internal departments required for service implementation
- Documentation, tools and equipment arrangements and distribution required for the service
- Health and safety management of employees during on-site activities
- Ensure proper management of working hours for on-site teams and prevent non-compliance with the law
- Providing on-site operational support when shortstaffed
- Responding to instructions from Managing Director
- Reporting to Managing Director and provide opinions as necessary
Customer Relations:
- Explaining products, make proposals, negotiate and conclude contracts with potential customers that come in through the website and head office sales
- Conducting necessary pre-meetings with customers in the context of service implementation (online or onsite visits)
- Regular communication and information on the status of services in order to maintain relationships with customer clients
- Recording content of meetings with customers and the results of negotiation
Others:
- Gaining knowledge of retail support solutions and strive to become familiar with the market
- Constantly improve business processes and seek more efficient and less costly ways and means
- Ensuring high ethical standards in the workplace
- Maintaining good communication with management, staff and suppliers
- Reporting all irregularities and issues to Managing Director for resolution.
Job Requirement
- 3-5 years of experience on the ground with managerial duties in the retail, F&B or service sector
- Conversational level of Japanese to liaise with Japanese speaking stakeholders and clients
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills to management operations on the ground
- Ability to negotiate tactfully and successfully when dealing with internal and external stakeholders, customers and others, especially in high pressure situations
- To be a proactive force and leader on issues critical to the success of the business in a rapidly changing environment
- Skillful in multitasking and prioritising, able to juggle a few projects at once and ensure that all proceed smoothly
