CHIEF EDITOR

To establish an electronic magazine that collects Chinese sci-fi short stories from China and translates them into English for supply in the English market.

Responsibilities:

1. Collect Chinese sci-fi short stories from various sources in China, negotiate with rights holders, and acquire new content.
2. Find suitable translators to translate selected stories into English with accuracy, consistency, and style.
3. Work with the editorial team to ensure translated content meets publication standards.
4. Build connections and maintain relationships with Chinese sci-fi authors and publishers, as well as English publishers interested in sci-fi works.
5. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the Chinese science fiction community.
6. Develop marketing strategies to promote the e-magazine, utilizing experience in digital marketing, social media management, and email campaigns.
7. Manage the website and online presence of the e-magazine, utilizing experience in web design, SEO, and content management systems.

Requirements:

1. Extremely fluent in both Chinese and English.
2. With at least three years of publishing experience in the science fiction and fantasy fields.
3. With good to extensive contacts with science fiction and fantasy publishers and writers in both Chinese and English.
4. Experience in running competitions on science fiction and fantasy writings in both Chinese and English.
5. Understanding and have experience in both Chinese and Western cultures and have lived in both China and the western world (UK, US), minimum period of one year each.
6. Able to translate science fiction and fantasy writings from Chinese to English and vice versa (need to show proof, preferably published articles).
7. Understanding and able to follow the progress of scientific and technological changes in both China and the West.
8. Minimum academic achievement - a master’s degree from a recognised institution.
9. Have worked in fields related to science fiction and fantasy movies and TV series. (10) Have experience in hosting bilingual events.
10. Have experience in both print and digital publishing.
