Director, Public Relations & Client Services

As a Director, you will be the overall project managers of accounts, responsible for managing consulting personnel, budgets and account profitability. They develop and grow new business in the various industry sectors and offer strategic contributions to the overall development of PRecious Communications.

Key Responsibilities

A a Director, your key job responsibilities are mainly Business Development and Client / Account Management. These are but may not be limited to the following list below.

Business Development

As a Director, being growth-driven and having BD experience is essential as you would need to ensure a good mix of inbound and outbound new business development pipeline (example of 60% inbound leads and 40% outbound leads).

Other BD tasks include:

  • Develop and cultivate leads for new business
  • Grow existing client business organically
  • Lead in business development pitches, assemble pitch team, strategize for proposals and presentations
  • Coach team members in business development skills
  • Oversee new business (financial revenue) pipeline
  • Support the MD in charting out business strategies identifying new growth areas and realizing set business goals
  • Lead and improve operational and financial performance of team

Client and Account Management

Strategy and Counsel:

  • Position the agency as a strategic partner to clients and prospects
  • Provide senior level oversight for client counsel, proactively build client trust and relationships
  • Serve as account lead, manage client contact and correspondence
  • Develop long-term strategic plans / recommendations for clients, ensuring alignment and integration with clients’ marketing and digital strategy and execution
  • Develop senior-level client programmes (campaigns, key messages and positioning)
  • Prepare recommendations to forestall or capitalise on emerging PR or industry issues
  • Provide accurate deliverables and budget estimates using the PRecious Communications Estimator for projects & retainers
  • Responsible for assembling the “best team” for client project or retainer
  • Oversee the full work flow of PR-led team from production to output
  • Conduct periodic strategic comms programme reviews for clients and recommend adjustments

Strategic Initiatives and Advisory:

  • Conduct regular Client discovery session with Clients to address needs of Clients.
  • Conduct client briefings as necessary (example: interviews/media-stakeholders sessions)
  • Position oneself as industry thought-leader for the agency (e.g. through contributing articles & commentary, engaging industry C-Suite clients
  • Develop and present issues & crisis comm plans and strategies to clients
  • Conduct media trainings
  • Lead strategic initiatives programmes in HQ/regional offices (as the practice develops)

Workflow and Scope Management:

  • Manage and track client deliverables and budgets to prevent over-servicing and ensure account profitability
  • Responsible for assembling the “best team” for client project or retainer
  • Manage and resolve any emerging issues around client or budget
  • Build and cultivate relationships with the senior benches of media and influencers

Content Development:

  • Oversee and manage the quality of content development (writing skills, strategy), providing supervision
  • Oversee and sign-off on all materials and reports for client submission
  • Oversee media monitoring, compilation of media clippings and media pitching
  • Contribute to higher-level content (thought leadership, bylines, case studies, client or media endorsements, white papers, media roundtables, yearly planning, quarterly PR plans)
  • Provide final sign-off for content

People Management / Management of Working Team:

  • Live and advocate PRecious Principles
  • Offer and help others beyond own scope of work
  • Mentor Consultant-level members
  • Look after professional and emotional welfare of team members and improve team dynamics
  • Conduct and improve performance appraisals process
  • Recruitment of new talent
  • Proactively improve and further leadership skills, setting and pursuing development goals
  • Conduct training and sharing sessions

Requirements

To achieve success in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • An innovative and creative leader with a minimum of at least 10 years' working experience in a communications environment, of which, 4 years in a leadership/supervisory position.
  • Agency experience is essential to the success of this role
  • Proven track record of creating and executing PR and brand communications strategies across B2B corporate / start-ups.
  • You should have regional APAC experience and an existing network
  • Well-connected to local and regional media
  • A strong knowledge of social and digital campaigns and a working knowledge of creating integrated campaigns
  • You have demonstrated previous success with business development efforts and have successfully drove revenue growth for the firm
  • Have great people management skills and the ability to manage a team well
