XCL American Academy is seeking to recruit an experienced Teacher Assistant (Teacher Apprentice) to join our international school community. This is a full-time 2-year contract position for an immediate appointment.
Teacher Assistants will directly work with students, support the instructional program, and assist teachers in the classrooms.
Main Responsibilities
● Work with students and support teachers daily with the educational program, lead classroom duties such as assisting with homework, organizing folders, sharing various updates with parents, and assisting students during activities and breaks.
● Manage and interact with children in a positive and supportive manner and assist in the execution of instructional plans by supporting children individually or in groups in their classrooms.
● Pick up and drop off students with class teachers for lessons and bring them to the library, cafeteria, bus bay, nurse station, or other facilities.
● Undertake playground supervision and lunch duties according to the schedule.
● Involved in the preparation, organization and execution of school events such as carnivals, special events and festivals celebrated by the school.
● Ensure sufficient basic supplies, e.g., stationery, art and craft materials are available and easily accessible and maintain the storage of materials in a tidy and organized manner.
● Assist in preparing and creating teaching aids, e.g., games, work cards, flashcards, etc.
● Act as a person in charge of bulletin boards and displays items in respective areas (creating, putting up, removing, etc.).
● Maintain student data and portfolios and update student data in various school systems.
● Manage the daily record of student attendance and dismissals.
● Maintain and build positive relationships with staff, teachers, and students to work effectively and collaboratively in the school.
● Manage any other ad hoc administrative duties assigned, such as filing, photocopying, purchasing of items, payment processing of purchased items, conducting material inventory, assisting with the publishing of student photos, and other administrative duties as assigned by the line manager.
Person Specifications
● Minimum Advanced Certification/Diploma in Early Childhood Courses or relevant courses.
● Preferably 2 years of Teacher Assistant working experience in other international schools.
● Candidates with excellent attendance records will be preferred.
● Certified to work with children aged 18 - 36 months.
● Registered with the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) would have an added advantage.
● Preferably Certified in Child First Aid.
● Provides excellent customer service to parents, students, teachers, and school leaders.
● Promotes the school to relevant stakeholders where appropriate.
● Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders (staff, parents, students, and the wider school community).
● This is a 2-year contract position until the end of July 2025. The contract can be renewed based on the employee’s performance and operational needs.
● Due to the nature of the role and remuneration package, this role would not qualify for a work pass.
