Perform database administration experience in a mission critical 24 x 7 environment – primarily Informix database on a UNIX (Solaris/AIX) platform.
Have good knowledge on Informix database internals (Memory, Process, Concurrency, etc.) and its related tools usage, including 3rd party connectivity tools (ODBC, JDBC, OLEDB and native APIs).
Perform key database administration functions – Installation and Configuration, instance creation, lifecycle management, capacity planning, database migration, database replication, database backup/recovery and performance tuning.
Ensure database availability and performance.
Maintain Backup & Recovery policies and procedures.
Monitor and develop database performance profiles, tuning databases and SQL for optimum performance Have strong ownership, analytical and problem solving abilities.
Have a strong articulation skill to promote the best database management practices (Design, Implementation & Management) and the ability to coordinate major systems events such as infrastructure upgrades, database upgrades, patching, application upgrades, load tests & storage migration.
Implement/Manage Informix High Availability & Disaster Recovery systems.
Have a good knowledge in 4GL programs and the intricacies of its interactions with Informix databases.
Proficient in scripting (SQL & Shell) skills and inclination towards automation of day-to-day tasks.
Provide 24 x 7 support (on-call)
Establish and maintain proper project documentation and standards Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of requirements Conduct periodic audit review and ensure baselines/policies are adhered to at all times Work with Principal Vendor for technical support Participate and support Business Continuity Plan/Disaster Recovery activities Ensure compliance of database licensing requirements.

Required Skillsets
5-8 years of DBA or related information technology experience Advanced working experience in Informix (11.x, 12.x) Workgroup and Enterprise editions, their related utilities and tools Strong physical database design skills Capable of working with related Informix utilities and developed scripts using UNIX shell and SQL.
Ability to handle concurrent projects and tight deadlines Working experience with Database High Availability configurations Good knowledge on Database compression and partitioning Working experience with Database HW/Platform Migration
