Career Coach would be responsible for providing guidance, support, and advice to people with acquired disabilities who are seeking to return to work in making important career-related decisions. The Career Coach would assist clients in identifying their career goals, developing strategies to achieve them, and overcoming obstacles in their professional journey.


1. Career Assessment, Goal Setting, and Planning:

a. To conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate client’s skills, interests, values, and aspirations, in order to gain insights into clients’ strengths and weakness

b. Collaborate with clients to establish achievable career goals and objectives

c. Develop customised career plans to outline specific steps and timelines for achieving these goals


2. Skill Development:

a. Identify skills gaps and recommend relevant training, courses, or certifications

b. Provide guidance on skill-building opportunities to enhance clients’ qualifications and marketability


3. Resume Review and Interview Preparation:

a. Review and critique clients’ resume and cover letters to ensure they are tailored to their desired career paths

b. Offer suggestions for improvement in terms of content, formatting, and presentation

c. Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback on clients’ interview skills, and offer tips and techniques for handling interviews


4. Career Transition Support:

a. Assist clients in navigating career changes, such as transitioning to a new industry or role

b. Develop action plans for successfully making these transitions


5. Continuous Support:

a. Maintain ongoing communication with clients to monitor their progress and offer additional guidance as needed

b. Keep up to date with industry trends and job market changes to provide relevant advice


Technical Competencies:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. psychology, counselling, human resources)

2. Certification or training in career coaching is highly desirable

3. Previous experience in career counselling, coaching, or related roles

4. Knowledge of various career assessment tools and resources

5. Proficiency in using job search platforms, networking tools, and online resources

6. Understanding of different industries and job market trends


Core Competencies:

1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills

2. Empathy and the ability to build rapport with clients

3. Strong in decision making, people management and networking skills
