Job Scope:
In order to support students in gaining stronger self-efficacy and enhanced socio-emotional competencies to attain better school outcomes and enhanced connectedness to the school, in conjunction with ongoing efforts by the school’s Student Development Team. Below are the two services required as follows:
A) Student/Family Suppport
Provide early identification of higher-needs students and families through appropriate screening tools and intervention plans to avert the onset of at-risk behaviours among students and to improve student well-being, in discussion with relevant school personnel.
Provide customised support for students and families identified to be at-risk, working in tandem with school personnel to:
i. Provide student-centric casework support for students-at-risk and their families, conducting family engagement and counselling support as necessary to these families;
ii. Engage and connect with higher needs students in community settings outside of the school compound, as necessary;
iii. Act as mentorsfor students-at-risk and empower them to make informed life choices;
iv. Provide relevant feedback and progress of students in consultation and discussion with school personnel.
B) Class-Based Social Work Intervention Programme
Submit a proposal for a social work intervention programme for the entire Secondary 1 level during Semester 1. The personnel should design and conduct a programme that:
i. Equipsstudents with socio-emotional skills that develop students' confidence, character and self-leadership through a hands-on, class-based programme;
ii. Enables students to translate their learning from the programme into multiple contexts including the home, class and community settings, thereby improving parent-child, teacher-student and peer relationships and sense of belonging to these multiple environments.
Qualification:
The Personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Qualifications:
· All personnel supplied should be contracted by a MSF-appointed Integrated Service Provider for school social work (with supporting documents in GeBIZ)
· Main Social Worker supplied should possess a social work degree (or have equivalent experience/qualifications in youth work)
· Associate Social Worker supplied should possess training/experience/qualifications in social work/youth work
· To provide list of personnel with qualifications for both Main and Associate Social Worker with supporting documents in GeBIZ.
Skills & Experience:
· Passion and disposition for working with students-at-risk and their families, and a positive belief in their potential.
· Cultural sensitivity, collaborative and an openness to diverse views.
· Emotional stability, resourcefulness and resilience.
· Ability to manage complex and serious school absenteeism or statutory cases, as well as provide consultation to school leaders on such cases.
Contract Duration:
From 15 Jan 2024 to 15 Nov 2024
· Start Date: 15 Jan 2024 or after the issuance of LOA whichever is later
· End Date: 15 Nov 2024
· Estimated 530 hours for Main Social Worker and 270 hours for Associate Social Worker
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:
A) 2 x Main Social Workers to be deployed every Monday (30 weeks, 210 hours for each Main Social Worker – 420 hours in total): 8am to 4pm (inclusive of 1 hr lunch break, no claim for lunch break) to conduct Student/Family Support (See Scope: Item A)
B) 2 x Main Social Workers (est 55 hrs per Main Social Worker – 110 hours in total) to be deployed during school holidays as pre-arranged between School and Contractor to conduct Student/Family Support (See Scope: Item A)
C) 2 x Associate Social Workers per Class (270 hours in total) to conduct Class-Based Social Work Intervention Programme for 9 classes of Sec 1 students (See Scope: Item B) during the following periods:
i) Tuesdays: 7:40am to 9:10am (1.5hrs x 5 classes x 10 weeks) – 10 x Associate Social Workers required
ii) Thursdays: 2:00pm to 3:30pm (1.5hrs x 4 classes x 10 weeks) – 8 x Associate Social Workers required
· Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
· Personnel will be notified by the school leaders if there is a need to report for work for additional ad-hoc sessions, giving at least one week’s notice.
