Purpose and Scope
This role will support the Head of Procurement, Singapore & Southeast Asia Market in Sembcorp Industries Ltd to lead the development of the supply chain strategy for selected categories. This is to support downstream sourcing and purchase of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the procurement strategy for EPC, renewable power plants and associated components in Singapore and Southeast Asia regions to support the various business units within the regions
- Periodically reviewing and refreshing the procurement strategy by monitoring market trends, competitor strategies and new suppliers
- Deliver value-add to the business units through the downstream sourcing activity by deploying the developed procurement strategy
- Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
- Provide analysis on costs for new and existing suppliers, and review cost reduction activities
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships on behalf of the organisation
- Following and enforcing Sembcorp’s procurement policies and procedures, support the functions and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
- Source and purchase goods, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Negotiate contracts such as framework agreements, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers
- Review opportunities to create business savings via negotiation and procurement best practices
- Prepare cost analyses and reports
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field with minimally 8 years of sourcing/procurement experience, with a focus on strategic sourcing
- Experience in negotiating of vendor contracts including EPC contracts, supply agreements and long term service agreements
- Relevant experience in utilities and renewables industry is preferred
- Knowledge of SAP Material Management (MM) modules will be preferrable
