What a Senior Director for QR Center of Excellence does at Visa:

As a lead of this Center of Excellence you would be responsible for:

  • Championing Visa's QR response to diverse market segments including: (a) mature markets where QR participation has reached a scale, (b) markets situated on the threshold of substantial expansion, and (c) nascent markets that are at the early stage of QR adoption. Across these markets you will establish a QR participation framework for domestic as well as cross border QR payments.
  • Internally, you would engage with senior executives of Visa such as Product and Merchants Sales and Acquiring leadership teams, Corporate Strategy, Group Country Managers. Externally, it would be evangelist of Visa’s QR strategy with Issuers, Acquirers, BigTech, Fintech, Regulators, and industry forums.
  • You will shape the go to market plan for identified countries. This would include determining the participation model for that country, setting the right transaction economics, identifying partners to achieve scale faster, building end user Customer Value Proposition (CVP) and, promotional plans to accelerate ecosystem built up.
  • To execute against the plan, you will be supported by a cross functional team across strategy, product commercialization, marketing, acceptance, implementation services, and in-market colleagues. You will also have a lean team directly reporting to you, which will be expanded as the business scales.
  • You and your team will be responsible for gathering product development requirement, prioritizing them and, publishing the global product roadmap for QR code. One key area of responsibility will be to determine the revenue streams adjacent to the QR payment transaction and, then recommend built or buy decision for those adjacent value-added services.   
  • As a part of your on-going responsibilities, you will maintain a programmatic approach to the activities of center of excellence, report periodic progress and, raise key issues & risks to gather support within the organization.
