Under general supervision by Senior Technicians/Field Engineers and Discipline Lead Engineers to perform a variety of commission, troubleshoot and repair of various electrical equipment including, but not limited to, MCC’s, VSD’s, distribution panels, motors, lighting and small power circuits.
To demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies and work methods associated with assigned duties to commission and maintain electrical equipment and to perform other duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Included but not limited to the following;
- Communicate clearly and precisely and follow oral and written instructions.
- Understand the need for and adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures and follow safe working practices.
- Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project documentation such as the MC/PC
- Procedure, Tagging Procedure, Punchlist Procedure, As Built Procedure, Vendor Manuals etc.
- Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project drawings such as SLD’s, Wiring Diagrams, schematics etc.
- Inspect, commission, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical, electronic and associated control systems and power circuits, power generating equipment and switchgear.
- Inspect, commission, troubleshoot, repair and maintain emergency electrical systems such as emergency power generators, emergency switchboards and lighting.
- Commission and maintain low and medium voltage switchgear, electric motors and various electrical systems such as lighting, small power, cathodic protection and associated equipment.
- Insulation integrity checks on cable installations.
- Insulation Resistance testing and Ductor testing on switchboards.
- Function Testing of Protection Relays and Circuit Breakers within switchboards and panels.
- Pre-commission and commission motor control starters (functionality testing).
- Injection testing of overload relays.
- Run Test on motors.
- Grounding checks.
- Battery bank preparation and discharge testing.
- Have a sound knowledge in the function and use of various test equipment to perform the above
- tasks.
- Have a sound understanding of certified equipment and hazardous areas.
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow workers and vendors.
- Assist in providing training for less experienced personnel.
- Good timekeeping practices.
Knowledge Of
- Permit to Work system.
- HSE policies and completion management systems.
- Electrical theory, work methods, tools and testing equipment used in the commissioning of Oil & Gas Facilities.
- Regulations pertaining to electrical and electronic installation.
- Principles of variable frequency drives, motors and control systems.
- Electrical schematic diagrams.
Requirements
- Must have more than 5 years of working experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or in any other relevant engineering qualification
- Preference for CompEX certified with a valid CompEX Certification
- Must have strong experience in full FPSO commissioning project involvement, especially in Electrical commissioning activities.
- Conversant with the use of various test equipment including HV testing equipment, HV Phasing stick, secondary injection test kit.
- Good timekeeping practices.
- Have a sound knowledge in the function and use of various test equipment to perform the above tasks
