Statement Of Purpose (Overall Purpose of Job)
Supervises carpenters nand trades helpers in the construction, repair, restoration & installation of structural woodwork and related materials.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
(A) Specific :
- Supervises carpenters to ensure safety & quality in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Plan & develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment maintenance.
- Estimates material, tools, equipment, supplies & labor budgeting guidelines are met for carpentry expenditures.
- Maintains paperwork for the operation of the carpentry department inclusive of time sheets, purchase orders, work orders, material records and submit reports.
- Conform to an established work schedule.
(B) General :
- Trains or informs employee of new work methods, procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies & construction codes.
- Constructs custom cabinetry & furniture as needed, repairs or modifies furniture as needed.
- Reviews layout drawings, inspection of cabinetry & site installation cabinetry to ensure quality work, code and specifications compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
(C) Safety:
- Be aware of Occupational health and Safety Policy.
- Follow the Company safety procedures, rules and regulations.
- Eliminate or reduce hazard at the work place.
Job Requirements
(A) Education, Qualifications & Special Training :
- Core-trade on joinery works/Secondary School ertificates:- N’Level or O’Level.
- Job holder without the above qualification but with relevant experience would be considered.
(B) Knowledge & Skills :
- Knowledge of computer operation.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices & techniques.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment & materials common to the carpentry trade.
- Knowledge of cabinet-making techniques.
- Skills in the construction, repair, restoration and installation of wood or related materials.
- Skill in estimating time and material requirements of work projects assigned.
- Skill in supervising the work of others.
- Skill in both verbal and written communication.
(C) Experience :
- 9 years of progressively responsible carpentry experience which include one year of supervisory experience.
