Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Health, Safe, Legal, execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters for the site. This includes managing budgets, organising schedules & routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties and are trained to the relevant standard.
Responsibilities
Ensuring daily movements of vehicles are recorded and payments are made promptly. Planning, routing and co-ordinate with suitable drivers on their routes
Organising, and filing, coordinating of documents and computer-based information to ensure efficiency
Co-ordinating with customers and other stakeholders on their queries and process of onboarding
Dealing with feedback, queries and complaints positively regarding transportation services
Having strong spoken communication skills, patient and is able and comfortable in communicating with people from all walks of life
Scheduling of transport for their weekly designated jobs, adhoc trips for buses and arrangement of permanent trips0
Assist In preparation of payslips, payment vouchers to Sub-cons and invoices for vendors
Meticulous, able to multi-task and is focused in cordinating the tasks on hand to ensure deliverables are met to customers' satisfaction
Negotiate and obtain deals from external companies/vendors.
Operate & achieve the transport budget.
Ensure legal Compliance to DVSA standards
Experience of both internal and external audits
Influence, direct and support your management team to work to performance criteria and undertake the right activities that positively influence cost within the department.
Lead, motivate and develop the Transport team members through performance management to raise performance standards and achieve KPI’s for cost, service and people.
Challenge under performance and recognise good performance in equal measure.
Collate KPI figures weekly and produce period end reports and action plans.
Ensure driver overtime and use of agency drivers and subcontractors are kept to a minimum.
Repair and maintenance costs to be strictly monitored and controlled.
Ensure Best Practice to minimise fuel usage and maximise KPL.
Monitor and control absence.
Maximise all forms of revenue.
Ensure supplier collections are made as planned.
Achieve on time delivery performance.
Ensure effective communications both internally in Transport department, within the Distribution Centre and with Customers including Supply Chain and branches.
Ensure management team is regularly appraised and developed via personal development plans.
Develop transport department Culture into a “Great Place to Work” atmosphere with Colleague engagement and inclusion a key focus.
Implement succession planning.
Identify training needs and design/implement training plans.
Ensure adherence to employment legislation and Company policy as required including; contracts of employment, discipline and grievance matters.
To ensure that the Company has an informed knowledge of both relevant Industry planning and activity within the reporting area
To provide positive input and feedback to support development of new market communications tools relevant to the segment
To work in combination with Product Manager, Marketing Support and Corporate colleagues to maximise Company performance in the markets of Transportation
To carry out any additional or other duties/responsibilities upon request
Collecting local transport market knowledge including equipment, port and airport operations relevant restrictions and regulations
Monitor activities, anticipate and recognize potential problems and initiate measures to eliminate or reduce their impact
Build the business case for new business development and obtain executive buy in for new initiatives
Be a creative thinker and innovator who will develop and execute new strategies focused on both market and portfolio expansion
Build and develop a high performing team, while providing contemporary and connected leadership, ensuring all employees in the organization are aware of and understand their personal contribution to the overall business strategy

Requirement:
Degree in Business Administration
Management experience within a unionised environment.
Thorough knowledge of CPC accountabilities & the legislative requirements
Experience of a customer service environment.
Excellent PC and organisational skills.
Methodical approach to figures and reporting.
Understanding of people planning and scheduling processes.
Knowledge of health safety and legislative requirements.
