The opportunity
The Asia Technology team has the mandate to ensure we deliver business and IT initiatives that deliver on Manulife’s strategic vision. We work across the different countries within the Asia region, partnering with local countries to deliver processes and solutions that deliver value for our distributors, customers, employees and shareholders. The Strategy Lead, Asia Technology will ensure that we are closely monitoring our progress in-line with the Tech Strategy for the Asia Segment. This would entail tightly managing our finances and performance against our KPI targets across all markets in the Asia Segment.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Lead the Asia Technology Strategic Planning exercise, ensure alignment of the plan with business objectives and monitor plan execution
- Proactively manage and report Asia Technology KPIs for the mkts.
- Lead IT budgeting and planning updates by coordinating closely with regional PMO and Finance, collecting timely inputs from markets, consolidating and sense-checking and reconciling gaps.
- Own the Technology Reporting process including weekly Release Note and Highlights, Monthly Technology Review report and Quarterly Technology KPI report
- Collect and prepare data points or recommendations on specific initiatives, usually to facilitate executive discussions on a strategic topic.
- Stakeholder Management - interact with a diverse group of key decision-makers and senior stakeholders (C-level)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners and act as a liaison between IT and other functions
- Conduct periodic tech reviews with reginal and global leadership team

What we are looking for
- 10+ years of IT experience in the insurance industry
- Previous experience in a strategic planning role in the Insurance industry is preferred, specifically in a regional role
- Good knowledge and understanding of technology and business trends.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Good project and time management skills to see through implementation of projects and plans
- Excellent communication, presentation, and sr. stakeholder management skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
