As the APAC Payroll Manager, you’ll join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the payrolls for a diverse range of countries across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. With a focus on countries including New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, India, and Japan, you'll lead our skilled payroll team to ensure accurate and timely compensation processes. Your role will encompass overseeing critical payroll projects, ensuring precise and efficient payroll reporting, and facilitating the provision of data to support the needs of the business. The responsibilities will include:
• Lead, manage and inspire the APAC payroll team, providing direct line management and support, fostering a culture of growth, accountability and excellence.
• Collaborate closely with the Group to shape and execute the payroll strategy for the APAC region, driving success and alignment.
• Oversee, or at times manage, the end-to-end processing of the monthly payrolls for multiple APAC locations, utilizing CloudPay as FNZ’s global payroll system.
• Serve as the go-to resource for employee enquiries related to tax, payroll, leave, superannuation, and terminations, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
• Forge strong communication channels with employees and key stakeholders to gather necessary information and approvals for smooth payroll processing.
• Form strategic partnerships with the HR team and Finance Business Partners, facilitating seamless payroll review, approval processes, and addressing queries.
• Spearhead the establishment of comprehensive payroll processes in emerging APAC countries as required, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date payroll processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), audit protocols, employee FAQs, and more, to guide the team's operations.
• Ensure accurate and timely updates in the HRIS (Workday) and other HR systems to reflect payroll-related actions, such as leave, pay changes, and employee details.
• Manage payroll-related audits, reviews, and special projects, showcasing your meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Stay current with legislative changes and ensure compliance across all APAC payroll locations, safeguarding our organization's adherence to regulatory standards.
What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate?
· Have an In-depth understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation, with an ability to quickly pick up and understand the nuances of APAC payroll legislation in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and India.
· Proven people management experience, leading high performing teams in challenging environments.
· Mastery of complex, end-to-end payroll processes across large scale organisations.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Advanced MS Excel skills, including advanced formulas and macros is ideal.
· Impeccable attention to detail and conscientious work ethic.
· Outstanding organizational skills paired with efficient time management.
Advantageous experience:
· Familiarity with payroll processes in various APAC countries (Australia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, India)
· Knowledge of Australian, China and/or Malaysian payroll legislation
· Experience using CloudPay or similar payroll systems.
