You will be joining a tight-knit group of IT professionals chartered with providing the best outcomes for our customers. In this role you will be pivotal in how the Motional network infrastructure functions and how we maintain and improve operational stability and efficiency. The Motional network is vital to the movement of Pedabytes of data throughout our on-prem and cloud environment. You will be at the forefront of ensuring consistent performance of the systems.
What you'll be doing:
- You will be asked to provide technical insights and recommendations to the entire IT staff as appropriate
- You have the opportunity to review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
- You will develop and administer network and security monitoring systems to track system availability using a variety of tools.
- You will provide support of our network and security operations globally by interacting with others to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of issues
- You will be asked to mentor and train other members of the IT team to increase overall capabilities
- You will create technical documentation and runbooks used by other IT members to reduce time to resolution of incidents and service requests
What we're looking for:
- You’re capable of initiating actions to reduce barriers and leverage the advantages of a diverse team and individual styles, ideas and professional or educational backgrounds.
- You work effectively with very limited oversight
- You have functioned in network engineering or support roles over the last 5-10 years
- You possess advanced technical troubleshooting, diagnosing, and problem-solving skills
- You should have competency in WAN/LAN/Firewall/Wireless systems, with emphasis on Cisco and Palo Alto solutions
- You have strong knowledge of network technologies such as BGP, LACP, OSPF, LACP, 802.1q, etc
- You have good verbal/written communications skills, you are able to translate technical information into understandable terms to a variety of audiences.
Bonus points (not required):
- Technical Certifications such as CCNP and/or AWS are not required but are a plus
- Knowledge of scripting and automation tools, including Python, Ansible, and PowerShell a plus
