Position Summary
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of FPI methods and techniques and knowledge of codes,standards, and contractual requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Set up and standardize equipment for Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) according to established procedures.
- Process parts and conduct inspections using FPI techniques to identify surface defects.
- Interpret and evaluate inspection results to determine acceptance or rejection of parts.
- Document findings and results accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide guidance and training in FPI methods and techniques to trainees and Level 1 personnel.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual inspection requirements.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with process standards.
- Develop and manage procedures and inspection techniques (sheets) for Level 3 approval.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 400 hours of experience performing FPI, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- At least two years of experience dealing with aircraft structures, engines, and/or components, or acceptable alternative training or experience.
- Ability to pass the near vision eye test at Snellen 20/25, Jaeger 1 or its equivalent, and the color perception test.
- Familiarity with FPM Code 07 and ASTM 1417 Type 1 D4 a/d specifications.
- Certification in NAS410 / ASNT is required.
- Basic product manufacturing, inspection technology, and aircraft engine maintenance knowledge.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and working knowledge of SAP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
