Regional Data Privacy Officer, Asia Pacific

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Regional Chief Legal Officer, Asia Pacific, you will act as the Regional DataProtection Officer and support the Regional Chief Legal Officer on all data privacy related mattersfor the regional office (AZAP) and operating entities (OEs) in the region.

What you do:

  • You will advise on applicable data privacy laws, regulations, regulatory guidance (“Data Privacy Laws”), and Allianz Privacy Standards and related rules (“Allianz Data Privacy Framework”) among OEs in the region. This includes the review of data privacy-related content in agreements, privacy statements/notices and advising on data privacyrisks related to partnerships, joint ventures, and other M&A-related matters.
  • Ensure adherence to Data Privacy Laws and appropriate implementation of Allianz Group initiatives by OEs in the region. This includes supporting DPOs of OEs in the identification, management, and mitigation of data privacy-related risks and monitoringof such implementation, e.g. by conducting privacy reviews.
  • Management of all privacy-related matters for AZAP, including data processing activities, privacy impact assessments, material personal data breaches, and vendor integrity screening.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate data privacy training workshops.

What you bring:

  • At least 8 years experience as data privacy officer/professional with a multi-national corporation
  • Sound experience working as a data privacy officer/professional in a multi-national corporation or in a major law firm
  • Good understanding of Data Privacy Laws in the Asia region and GDPR
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical, thinking, and implementation skills and ability to problem-solve and provide pragmatic solutions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with business leaders and manage a team effectively
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects and matters at the same time
  • Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus
  • Qualified lawyer a plus
