THE POSITION

The Corporate Director of Engineering supports the Global Head of Engineering with all Engineering related disciplines for new and existing projects globally on an established schedule within approved budget and to standards agreed to with the Client. He /She supports the implementation of Aman’s standards and brand objectives through a focus on superior engineering strategies and solutions. Responsible for managing owners and their respected consultants to achieve prominent Aman hotels both in urban and resort locations, as well as maintaining the feasibility parameters.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within Aman. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.

· Utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Manages overall engineering budget and costs.

· Project Feasibility & ROI Analysis

· Design Development Engineering Analysis

· Ensure that all hotels operate in an economical, legal and safe manner.

· Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritised and facilitate, direct and drive implementation of Lean Business strategy and drive Continuous Improvement across all engineering related areas of the business.

· Coordinate with other departments with all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policy and legal requirements.

· Work with Engineering colleagues in operation and control of utilities to provide efficient operation of hotel services and comfort to guests.

· Provide engineering direction, ensure adherence to brand standards, and oversee/assist external engineering consultant teams from initial space planning and concept development through all phases of design.

· Ensure the hotel complies with all government regulations pertaining to building code requirements, health, fire and life safety programs.

· Review ongoing service contracts ensuring superior performance and competitive pricing.

· Monitoring energy and water management programs to ensure cost effective use of utilities.

· Develop project schedules, track and review construction documents.

· Have experience in managing fire main systems & associated pumps, sprinkler systems and equipment, with good knowledge of international fire regulations and best practices, working knowledge of electrical codes and occupational safety codes.

· Understanding main/ secondary drainage (plumbing) systems; electrical power distribution systems.

· Able to implement and manage a proactive Preventative Management Program.

· Review and monitor project costs to ensure current costs are in alignment with proposed budgets.

· Assist with CapEx planning, design review, project data tracking and reporting.

· P&L/Financial Management


QUALIFICATIONS

· A degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering and/or Building Management.

· Minimum 5 years work experience in a luxury hospitality environment. Preferable prerequisite is experience in the Hotel industry or any related or similar service-oriented industry.

· Could have previously held positions as Project Engineer, Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer (Marine, unlimited ocean/ unlimited horsepower) aboard vessels of over 10,000 tons.

· Available to travel extensively to Aman properties in 20 countries

· Right to work in the Singapore.

· Detailed knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems and related refrigerants, chilled/condenser water components.

· Preferred previous experience in water/ wastewater treatment and related chemicals/ filtration devices.

· Preferred knowledge of hydraulics, including balancing in waterworks/ tanks; prime/ standby power generation equipment and associated switchgear.

· Preferable to have experience in reverse osmosis and triple effect evaporator systems.

· Proficiency in Computer Skills, particularly in the use of Property Management & Energy Management systems.

· Experience in preparing and managing annual maintenance budgets and assisting in the preparation of the capital expenditure plans.

· Fluent in English (further languages desirable)

· Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted projects and of working under pressure.

· Team player who values teamwork, has good team building skills and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

· Equips and motivates employees to achieve predetermined goals, installing and maintaining appropriate empowerment programs.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Experience in dispute, conflict resolution, negotiations & deal making.

· Excellent analytical skills, a proactive problem solver.

· Personable and pleasant to deal with. Discreet, reliable, diplomatic, high degree of integrity.

· Positive “can do” attitude and flexible approach, manages with humility.

· Excellent personal grooming & personal presentation.

· Understands and respects local culture, able to adapt to changing environment.
