Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC Medicine), a joint medical school between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow to join Dr. Xiuyi Fan's laboratory. Our lab focuses on the development of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques and their applications to gain new insights in the field of medicine.
We have various projects related to XAI that the Research Fellow will explore, including temporal/time-series and counterfactual explanations, as well as uncertainty quantification and comparisons of XAI techniques. The successful candidate should have experience working at the intersection of XAI and Medicine. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with large-scale Electronic Health Records and the development of new XAI techniques.
The Research Fellow will lead projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Xiuyi Fan. Responsibilities will include data preprocessing, data analysis, the development of new XAI techniques, application of existing XAI techniques, and manuscript writing. The Research Fellow will also provide support to research student projects at all levels (Bachelors, Masters, and PhD).
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments using XAI techniques in the application to medical data to produce new medical insights.
- Develop new XAI techniques that are either use-case specific or use-case agnostic.
- Perform analysis of newly developed techniques and existing techniques.
- Coordinate lab meetings, seminars, and workshops.
Competencies and Qualifications:
- Have a PhD in the field of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI).
- A track record of research in XAI, preferably in the application to medical data.
- Knowledge of existing XAI methods.
- Organized, motivated, and a team player with the ability to carry out independent research.
- Capability to adapt to the ever-changing field of Machine Learning and associated XAI methods.
