Job Description:
- Supervise, control, and coordinate all vetting matters for a group of allocated ships.
- Liaising closely with the ship managers on the reporting, investigation and adequate resolution of incidents, issues, and disputes.
- Conduct investigation and root cause analysis for non-conformance reports, accidents, and incidents.
- Prepare vessel for third-party vetting inspections for Bulk carriers and follow up submissions to the third party.
- Coordinate with the ship managers Marine/HSEQ teams regarding significant issues such as vessel rejections, client responses, technical holds, the outcome of the client/management reviews and any other matter that may negatively impact the office/fleet.
- Suggest improvements to ship Managers in analysis and corrective actions for the client observations.
- Perform Vetting Review and approval for all vessels nominated for business.
- Monitor / Follow up on Rightship Ratings of the entire owner and TC Fleet—Liaise with the ship managers in addressing and closing pending matters.
- Conduct Annual Reviews of the Company's DBMS declarations with the Ship Managers to drive improvement initiatives and best practices.
- Follow up on close-out of deficiencies from vetting Inspections.
- Working closely with the ship managers to develop a strong safety culture on board the owned vessels.
- Manage the owner's comments in response to vetting reports.
- Maintain the Company database of defects raised by vetting inspectors.
- Develop and build liaison relations with external vetting bodies on behalf of K-Line.
- To develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Dry cargo trade majors, including planned visits/ meetings as directed.
- Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in written form
Qualifications
- Candidate must possess Master Mariner (unlimited) Class 1 Certificate of Competence (COC).
- A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience as Master on the relevant type of vessel being recruited for.
- ISM/ISO/ISPS Auditor qualification is an advantage.
- Familiar with international and local maritime regulations and requirements.
- Working experience in related fields with broad knowledge of Marine Safety Matters.
- Experience in Ship Vetting by Majors, Ship, and Terminal Operation will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Quality Assurance and ISM will be an advantage.
- Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, integrity, and professionalism.
