The BIM Specialist will be the overall lead of each discipline in terms of creating and managing digital models of building structures and systems using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. The ideal candidate should have a solid technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, excellent software, and hardware troubleshooting, and be able to work collaboratively and independently under each discipline design manager's supervision.
A summary of the responsibilities of this position are, and not limited to, as follows:
- Overall lead modeling efforts on projects working with Senior BIM modelers/BIM modelers to establish Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP) for each discipline.
- Establish workflow following the company Standard of Practice (BIM SOP) for use by the Project team including electronic document filing, quantity take-off, construction/installation sequences, and all other facets of the electronic drawings and/or model deliverables.Develop and manage digital models of buildings or structures using BIM software
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate and efficient project design and construction
- Analyze design and construction data to identify potential issues and resolve them proactively
- Manage spatial coordination on behalf of a task team, propose resolution to coordination clashes and provides support and training to team members in the use of BIM software
- Maintain and update BIM models throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Reports to the Project BIM Manager on BIM-related issues and Discipline Design Manager for technical issues.
- Configure and develop Clash Detection analysis on a regular basis (generation of aggregate models) highlighting issues to engineers/coordinators, and ability to give conflict resolution collaboratively with the design team.
- Leads regular BIM coordination meetings and tracks the progress of the BIM coordination process
- Adherence to safety practices in the work place
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Information Technology or relevant field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM modelling and Coordination work.
- Proficient in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Experienced in project management and collaboration with cross-functional teams
