Job Description

Purpose of the post

The Visiting Senior Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the experiments on time. The RF’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as planning and conducting experiments, data collection, data entry and analysis.


Main duties and responsibilities

The Senior Research Fellow will liaise with the relevant personnel in the Department and Immunology programme to effectively conduct the project and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The RF will be able to:

  1. Oversee the general management of the project;
  2. Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with the study sites;
  3. Undertake the day to day running of the project, e.g. Collaborate with team members at the study sites, recruitment, data collection at hospitals/participants’ homes;
  4. Conduct literature searches, and analyse data, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;
  5. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct in accordance with policies and procedures;
  6. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  1. have a Ph.D. degree with good results in the field of biomedicine with prior experience in research being essential; and
  2. be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail; and
  3. have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint, and
  4. have experience and in-depth knowledge in the field of immunology.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
