Your responsibilities as Mechanical Site Manager (with HVAC)
Ramboll is part of an EPC project, where we are working as engineering contractor for the EPC contractor located in Singapore. The Mechanical Site Manager will act as will act as a representative for the engineering contractor during execution at their fabrication yard in the north of Singapore, during the fabrication of an offshore substation topside.
In your role as Mechanical Site Manager, your focus will be to ensure and oversee that the fabrication of the piping, layout, HVAC and mechanical aspects for the structure adheres to all prepared specifications and technical requirements as per the contract. As such, it will be your responsibility to follow up on progress, site queries, any non- conformances, facilitate minor adjustment as needed and daily technical clarifications. In doing so, you shall collaborate closely with representatives from the EPC contractor, the engineering contractor (your back office), Suppliers and other disciplines and representatives from the client as required.
As such, in your role, you will:
- Relocate to the fabrication yard and provide reliable information to the project manager regarding significant technical issues, particularly risks
- Shall be integrated into the EPC engineering team
- Where required, liaise and coordinate Mechanical tasks with Suppliers, EPC Contractor and other disciplines
- Trouble shooting / solution finding during fabrication conflicts
- Shall propose a solution, including supporting documentation, to any design issues, flaws, or gaps in the contract requirements. These shall be agreed upon with Company before implementation.
- Collaborate closely with the fabrication yard representatives, the engineering design office, client’s home office and other discipline representatives at the fabrication yard.
- Coordinate mechanical tasks between project participants and suppliers as required.
- Follow up on time schedules, mechanical progress and results from fabricator
- Review costs for change orders, and progress claims when required.
- Interact with clients and stakeholders on technical solutions in order to ensure the best solution and in the clients best interest.
- Ensure that department execution workflows and design tools are followed and maintained
You and your competencies
You must have a result-oriented, proactive and systematic approach to your work. You should enjoy working both independently and together with your colleagues and stake holders from both the engineering team and the EPC team thus experience in both design and installation/commissioning is preferred. You will engage with multiple stakeholders during the execution, thus teamwork is essential to achieve results.
Furthermore, you must:
- have minimum a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- have minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical offshore engineering – preferably with offshore substations – combined with managing and overseeing mechanical fabrication at a fabrication site
- have comprehensive understanding of offshore mechanical and offshore OSS design standards and codes (including e.g. DNV-ST-0145)
- knowledgeable understanding of HVAC systems and installations
- have experience with typical OSS interfaces from design phase to procurement, vendors, shop preparations, materials, installation, Layout, safety, cable routing, equipment Tagging, numbering & marking, testing, and quality.
- be familiar with standard OSS component vendors
- be familiar with the discipline interfaces and integration to other disciplines and systems
- speak and write English fluently
- have excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey complex technical information

We represent a strong group of Engineers with comprehensive experience in design and analysis of Offshore Substations for Offshore windfarms. The current position is working as the engineering contractor representative at a fabrication yard. A contract period of 1 year is currently foreseen with an estimated start on site from early Q2, 2024.
