Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement both physical and wireless networks, including LAN/WAN, network segments, and internet and intranet systems.
- Monitor and analyze network performance, troubleshoot network problems, and escalate issues to vendors when necessary.
- Establish and enforce network security policies, defining and monitoring access.
- Keep abreast of industry developments through educational opportunities, professional publications, and participation in relevant organizations.
- Report network operational status, prioritize information, and manage projects effectively.
- Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
- Configure routing and switching equipment.
- Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users during installation.
- Undertake capacity management and audit IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
- Collaborate with project management teams, third-line engineers, and service desk engineers regularly.
- Communicate with customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6-8 years of proven experience in a network engineer role.
- Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching.
- Excellent knowledge of best practices for managing, controlling, and monitoring server infrastructure.
- Experience with firewalls, internet VPNs, remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
- Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Juniper, Cisco, CWNA, or BCNE training.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDP) are a plus.
