Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) offered the first Materials Engineering degree in Singapore under the division of Materials Engineering in 1991. With the increasing demand for materials engineers, the division was subsequently elevated to a full-fledged engineering school in 2000. The school of Materials Engineering (MSE) now stands as one of the world’s largest Materials Engineering departments.
The candidate selected will facilitate activities of the Academic Office and carry out important functions dutifully, to achieve a seamless experience for faculty members and students. He / She will coordinate undergraduate matters, such as collation of teaching feedback and examination question papers. Ideally, the candidate should possess the following skillsets.
Key Responsibilities:
Final Year Project (FYP)
Maintaining the FYP Information on the website so faculty and students can access accurate and up to date information on FYP.
Setting up the stages and milestones of FYP every semester.
Maintaining FYP System to ensure that faculty and students can access the system.
Provide up to date FYP assignment report to Associate Chair (Academic) and Undergraduate Academic Manager
Provide support to Undergraduate Academic Manager in FYP marks compilation.
Professional Internship, Professional Attachment, Work-Study Degree Program, and other internship programs available for MSE Students
Identifying the correct internship track for each group students
Assigning the correct internship program according to students’ respective program
Provide Support in other Undergraduate Academic Matters
Assist in planning, developing and updating the undergraduate timetable ensuring that it is accurate, comprehensive, and accessible to students and staff.
Provide logistical support for the smooth implementation of laboratory classes every semester.
Assist in providing administrative and logistic support in handling the continuous assessments and exam matters.
Responding to students queries on FYP, internship and other undergraduate academic matters.
General Administration
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the office.
Handle office supplies’ inventory and office maintenance.
Handle office budgets, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Manage the general logistics for school events such as outreach activities, seminars and workshops.
Requirements:
Degree in any relevant discipline with at least 1 - 2 years of relevant working experience preferred.
Strong written and oral communications skills
Efficient problem solver
Customer-service oriented with a positive work attitude
Ability to multitask under given timelines
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Meticulous and attention to detail, strong follow-up and organizational skills
Capacity to think strategically will be advantageous
