The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) welcome applications for a Research Engineer II position on Autonomous Flight Controls at the eVTOL Research and Innovation Centre located at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The appointment is full-time and is funded for 1 year with the possibility of another year of extension. The selected candidate will join a vibrant and dynamic research group, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to work on the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing an autonomous control framework development for an eVTOL platform.
- Assist teams in seamlessly integrating control algorithms into different hardware architectures.
- Extend control-centric ideas to localization, path planning, and path optimization regimes.
- Develop a learning-based controller framework for disturbance rejection and faults.
- Real-time implementation of control on an eVTOL system.
Job Requirements:
- Masters Degree in the field of Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering with a major emphasis in the domain of Control, Automation, and/or Robotics.
- Excellent knowledge of control programming involving Nonlinear Systems and Control theory, Observer Design, Machine Learning, and Neural Networks, and Model Predictive Control.
- Sound coding skills in C/C++, MATLAB, Python.
- Excellent knowledge in using Simulink is a must.
- Excellent knowledge of ROS2 and Gazebo.
- Excellent knowledge in implementing control strategies of real-time multi-rotors and Pixhawk flight stack is Mandatory.
- Proficient in using machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow and Keras.
- Good English writing and communication skills (required).
- Excellent knowledge on localization algorithms and sensors.
- Knowledge of computer vision is preferred.
