- Provide strategic legal counsel and advice to the management and business units on various legal and compliance matters.
- Assist with the development and implementation of internal compliance policies and procedures. Analyse and evaluate internal processes and provide recommendations to improve legal risk management.
- Develop compliance training programmes for employees to promote awareness and understanding of internal policies and legal and compliance requirements.
- Manage disputes, litigation and any regulatory matters that may arise or affect the company’s business in local and regional offices.
- Advise on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, such as meeting filing and lodgment requirements.
- Keep abreast of emerging compliance risks affecting the company. Continuously monitor new laws and regulations relevant to the business and ensure that the company's practices comply with the foregoing.
- Review a broad range of contracts, including sales/distributorship contracts, purchase contracts and service contracts. Identify areas of improvement to legal precedents and develop new templates and bespoke contracts in line with business needs.
- Liaise with China HQ on reporting and approval matters.
- Assist the Head of Department in leading and guiding the legal function.
- Handle any other work assigned by the Head of Department and management.
