Role
The role of a Cook is to maintain a high standard of hygiene in preparation and cooking of meals for the clients from Day Activity Centre and students from School.
Responsibilities
· Management of food stocks including checking quantity and quality of food items.
· Purchase ingredients and work within decided budget.
· Menu planning to ensure variety and nutrition of food served.
· Preparation, cooking and serving meals for Day Activity Centre (DAC) clients lunch time. Assist in the feeding of DAC clients.
· Preparation, cooking and serving meals for School students’ morning and afternoon recess time.
· Ensure cleanliness, hygiene and safety standards are maintained at all times in the kitchen.
· Direct activities of trainees who assist in the kitchen e.g. during preparing, serving meals and area cleaning.
· Work as a team and participate positively and actively in the quality service delivery in line with the mission, goals and objectives of the Association.
· To undertake any other duties as assigned by the HOD - DAC and School Principal.
Requirements
· Be able to prepare, cook and present food to the highest standards.
· Have a good personal hygiene.
· Must be physically fit.
· Must be able to converse in simple English.
· Have a compassionate and patient personality.
· Experience in working with persons with special needs is an added advantage
