Responsibilities:
- Prepare stains, mounts slides and microscopically studies cells from the human body to detect evidence of cancer, hormonal abnormalities and other pathological conditions.
- Performs specialised and complex testing that involves microscopic screening and evaluation of gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens.
- Prepares specimens for examination, utilizing appropriate laboratory techniques and protocols. Classifies cells according to established categories. Determines whether cells are abnormal and whether slide should be reviewed and examined by Pathologists.
- Knowledge of both Conventional & Liquid based systems.
- Accurately records all appropriate specimen and results data.
- Assures individual specimen turnaround times are consistent with overall laboratory expectations
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, conferences, professional affiliations.
- Adheres compliance with established administrative laboratory policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with requirement of laboratory safety, OSHA, assurance accreditation under ISO15189.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Degree in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry or relevant qualifications.
- 5-6 years’ relevant experience preferably a Certified cytotechnologist by Cytotechnology International Academy of Cytology;
- Able to work under time pressure with accuracy and meeting the expected required turn-around-time for cases.
- Must be a team player.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
- Saturday: 8.30 am to 1.00 pm
- Working hours may change due to operational requirements
